Logically Irrational

1,101

This husband and wife duo (Melissa Rycroft Strickland and Tye Strickland) tackle relationships, family, pop culture and of course Reality TV in a hilarious and logically irrational way. She’s a TV Personality, and he’s an Insurance Agent who is obsessed with pop culture (that’s a lie), and together their unfiltered approach to life is pure entertainment.

    Love Melissa &Tye
Truly unprofessional! Never take their podcast seriously. If it’s just a hobby I’m unfollowing. They choose not to be consistent in airing their podcast . Lost a listener! Melissa yes your first priority is your family but tons of women work and take care of their families.

    Best podcast
I get all of my tv shows from their recommendations and love their dynamic!

    Favorite podcast BUT…….
If I hear Melissa say “girlfriend” one more time, whether it’s about her car, especially her daughter, dog, ANYTHING…. I’m going to run down the street screaming at the top of my lungs. STOP PLEASE!

    Love it
Just want to say the reviews about them not being reliable isn’t exactly fair. They have a Facebook group and Melissa is pretty good about updating on there if something comes up. Or they mention it on the episode. I used to plan my walks around podcasts but I’ve learned to find other ones that are consistent and this one is just a bonus. They have 3 kids and full time jobs, they are very relatable which is why I listen! So we really can’t get too mad at them..

    To counter the whiny reviews!
Good f-ing grief people stop complaining!! These negative reviews read like a bunch of codependent spoiled preteens got into Daddy’s liquor cabinet and just let loose a poo poo word salad onto the reviews. The podcast comes out when they can do it! These folks did not make a marriage commitment to be here every week at the same time! There are a gazillion podcasts out there and all free. Just be thankful and for the love of all that is Holy stop complaining about every last persnickety, nit picky pet peeve you happen to come up with. Grab a coke, a smile, some therapy, and keep it to yourself! 🤫 🤠

    Unreliable
This used to be my favorite podcast, but unfortunately it is no longer a priority for them. You never know when an episode will be coming out.

    Unreliable
You never know if there will be a podcast or not! She admits she doesn’t like “her” podcasts to do it but her social life makes her do it to us regularly.

    Give these guys a vacation!
Meh. It's ok. It really is just a recap of constant vacations, or the planning of the next vacation, interspersed with a little bit of talk of kids and sports. And explanations how they need a vacation in a different format. Melissa's overuse of "100%" is the new "however."

    Fun and easy listen
I love having this podcast in my rotation for an easy listen. I listen to a lot of true crime so this often is a nice, uplifting break. I don’t watch much tv so I often can’t relate to the reality roundup, but I either skip it or not and still enjoy the discussion. I read some of the other reviews and really don’t understand some of the hate spewed towards the hosts. Yes, they live a different lifestyle-that’s how we even know who they are to listen to their podcast. As to often-used words or phrases or speaking tiks, yes, I notice, but I feel like it’s part of the personalities and it doesn’t bother me. I like the podcast and recommend as a light, fun, easy listen.

    Melissa’s Throat Clearing
I am still giving the podcast five stars because I absolutely love listening to the two of them and look forward to the podcast each week, but have to agree with the person who says it is so annoying the way Melissa clears her throat. I can’t believe her, and Tay couldn’t figure out who the other lady was writing about. She clears it at least five times an episode. Maybe just take a drink of water?

Love the dynamic between the hosts and the reality round up! Love listening every week!!! Keep the episodes coming.

    Great Podcast!
My sister and I love this podcast always a good laugh! Two things: I’m in January 2020 what is reality round up now? Also, Melissa can you say why CMT doesn’t have DCC making the team? Love the podcast!!

Ugh, this has become a hate listen
I realized a few weeks ago when there were complaints of no podcasts (because Melissa was too busy planning extravagant birthday parties) that I hadn’t even missed seeing it on my feed. I almost unfollowed at that point but kept with it. But now I’m done. All it is is Melissa feeling sorry for herself because she’s so busy…while we have to listen to all the trips and vacations and cruises and I was driving my brand new car and hit the security gate while going for a facial and then the gate to their beautiful home hit Tye’s brand new truck, blah blah blah. We get it. Try to be a little more humble and realize that most people don’t need to hear about all your luxuries while also constantly complaining about ridiculous things. Also…I can’t take the “girlfriend” and “she’s so pretty” and “he’s my boyfriend” is annoying. So is saying “whilst” with a put on British accent. ✌🏼👋🏼 While this podcast uses to be enjoyable and fun to listen to, Melissa has become unbearable. Does she actually do anything other than pamper herself with expensive treatments and watch endless amounts of tv? How does she have 3 children and she watches so much tv?!?! Bragging about how much money she spends, trips to Vegas, etc. Her constant use of the word “however” and “here’s the thing” is annoying. She just doesn’t sound very intelligent at all. Also the hatred she has towards anything Bachelor related is real funny given that’s what’s given her any popularity at all.

    Unfortunate
It’s unfortunate that this podcast is no longer a priority for them. They go weeks without posting a new episode and don’t inform their listeners. All they care about is going on vacation and throwing parties

    Over it
I used to really like this podcast. Sadly, I don’t think that it is a priority for them anymore, nor is informing their listeners if there won’t be a podcast that week. The podcast used to be fun but lately if they do record it’s just a recap of their most recent vacation. I have to bow out of this one.
  • Jenni0812
Never know when an episode will be on
The episodes are a hit and Miss. You never know will they will be on. They go weeks without a new episode.

Overall good but have some critiques
Overall, I really like this podcast. It’s become one of my favorites! I’ve been frustrated this year though because they’ve been off schedule several times with posting their episodes. It’s really important to stay on track. Listeners look forward to a new episode being released every Thursday. Another critique is that sometimes it’s hard to relate to Melissa’s privileged lifestyle. She’s constantly traveling (which seems to affect their podcast schedule) and I can’t relate to her first world problems - like struggling to decorate her oversized Christmas tree. Some people think Tye talks down to her but I don’t take it that way. I think he jokes around with her and tries to keep her first world problems in check by moving the conversation forward. I love when they stick to their topics and my favorite one is Reality Roundup. If they could just stick to their topics, schedule, and keep their first world problems in check, I’d give them five stars.

    Over it!
I used to love this podcast but I’m done with being disappointed every Thursday. So many people look forward to it every week. Sorry but it’s so unprofessional and shows they only think about themselves and going on vacations.
  • JoJo050428
    Tone deaf
Melissa is constantly speaking from a very elite, privileged and uneducated POV. It’s sad and disheartening. He thinks he’s the most intelligent being on the planet and it’s blatantly obvious every time he opens his mouth. They’re both stuck up, elitist jerks. Hard pass on this one!

    Husband loves too!
My husband doesn’t love most of the podcasts I enjoy but he loves y’all! He’s picky about sound quality and y’all are great about that and he even enjoys the pop news and reality roundup!

    So good!
I recently wrote a review about a year ago regarding Melissa using the word however every other word. I love and totally respect the fact that she read that and has made an effort to fix it. Love this podcast! I look forward to it coming out and walk around my block every Friday just listening to it and catch myself giggling out loud. Your dynamic and relationship totally remind me of my sister and brother-in-law! Love how you guys share what’s going on with your family and that you are no different than every other family out there. Keep up the great work!

    Late to the game.
I just recently found your podcast through Kellie and the yea network podcast. I am listening backwards, and listening to new podcast as they come. I am currently listening to skunk spray and prison mullets. I lived in the country in Texas and my dogs tend to encounter skunks a lot. Tomato juice is not the best solution. Every time I go with a mixture of peroxide, baking soda, and dawn dish soap! Hopefully you won’t have to use it but just in case! Yall are a great listen! 1 quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (fresh bottle), • ¼ cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), and • 1-2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap.

I look forward each week to listening to you and Ty. I have followed you since The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Dallas Cowboy cheer tryouts . You guys are so real and down to earth. I did have a question I was wondering where you purchase the photo socks , pj bottoms etc.. I’m looking for a place to order pj bottoms for my family at Christmas . If you could pass along the name or link I would appreciate it. Can’t wait til this week’s podcast. Teresa

Enjoy but often give incorrect info
I love Melissa and Tye and listen every week- but so often Melissa gives out incorrect information. Things like when a show premieres, or what streaming service things are on, etc. It would just be nice if they could verify info before putting it out like most others do.

    Relatable
I just love listening to the podcast. So much about your lives is relatable and in some ways makes me feel better about how we parent our kids. None of it is boring so keep talking about all the things. I love it all. Thanks for sharing your lives with us and letting us know that it’s okay to not always be perfect (parenting fails, etc). Love when the kids interact also!

    MAFS Recap Fan
Hey Melissa and Ty! I love your podcast and have listened from the beginning. I enjoy your recaps on MAFS and other reality shows. I wanted to recommend that you should watch MAFS Australia on shvideos.net and not Lifetime. Lifetime is editing out a lot of stuff.

    I love Melissa and Tye
… but I often feel uncomfortable when they‘bicker’ like I’m listening in on a private conversation or something. And it’s usually over nothing. Eek. Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re great, and they are awesome parents!! Great content, too!

Too much Tye’s misogyny and republican vibes
    1. The way Tye talks about his daughter sometimes bugs me but his sons can do anything long as it’s manly it seems..eyeroll. I think it would be better if Tye wasn’t on the podcast. He doesn’t do “girl” conversations. I’d like to hear about Ava’s friend troubles since we’ve all been through it’s and other moms are going through it with their daughters. I know y’all are from texas but I just don’t know that this is the right attitude to be putting on the podcast. 2. Letting the kids or anyone “get Covid so y’all can get it over with” cuz Tye’s experience with it “wasn’t that bad” is not okay to teach your followers and people who look up to you this kind of false information and especially after you had a pro vaccine ad last week.. wow. Make it make sense. 3. Demi’s pronouns and Tye’s reaction really bugged me. I don’t like Demi Lovato, but even I knew that wasn’t the right reaction to put out. Just really disappointed in you both as humans lately as the world evolves but y’all don’t seem to get better. Not trying to be a woke millennial and annoying… but there are some things that you don’t need to do on here. Just a disappointed fan. That’s all. I’m sorry I don’t think I can listen anymore till it gets better. I know losing one listener won’t hurt you and it’s not what I’m trying to do either- I just hope for better from you. Or maybe replace Tye with one of Melissa’s friends? I hate leaving a review like this cuz I usually leave nice ones everywhere but I think it’s good to know how you can evolve as humans and grow. Thanks!

I absolutely love listening to y’all every week! Y’all are both so down to earth and very relatable. I have 3 kids and they are the same age as yours so it makes it easy to relate in the parenting world! 🤪 I laugh every single week with y’all!! Keep it up!!

    Why vax ad for kids?!
I love listening to your show every week. It makes me laugh when I’m having a tough week. This week, however, I was so disappointed that you did an ad for the vax for kids. It really makes me question if I want to listen to the podcast more if you are going to keep promoting something so controversial!
  • ac0504
    Vaccines Advertisement?
I really love your podcast, but have to say I was super disappointed to hear an advertisement for the Covid vaccine for kids! That’s an appropriate conversation with a parent and their doctor, not a paid advertisement from an influencer. :( Overall, y’all are still 5 stars, but had to share my opinion.

    Mother/Daughter Show!!
Hey Melissa and Ty!!! Your show is such a light in this crazy world. I usually listen to all different kinds of podcasts but when my kids are in the car it is always yours. My 8 year old took a love for your show on our road trips and now insists I don’t listen until she is with me in the car. Thanks for all you do!! Lots of love Tonya and new fan Taylor!!!

    Upset
Hi folks!! I wanted to write this review because I am feeling very disappointed after your episode involving Demi Lovato. Your mockery of their pronouns and how they choose to express themselves and be a part of this world is concerning. I understand that it is not always comfortable or completely habit to use they/them pronouns - I am working in it myself - however the complete disregard of Demi’s pronouns and how Tye kept calling their pronouns “ridiculous” was extremely upsetting. Also, Melissa saying that you should just use “Demi” to avoid having to deal with their proper pronouns was troubling, as it seemed very self centered. While it is clearly not second nature for you to use they/them pronouns it is very important - especially since you are raising children - that you put in a little more effort to respect everyone and not make a joke out of someone’s identity. In all honesty, I have not yet listened to the episode after the Demi episode, so you might have (and I hope you did!) possibly apologized or already circled back to this topic, but I left the Demi episode feeling upset and I wanted to write this review just to be sure we can all be learning and focused on growth, instead of being close minded and judgmental, because I normally enjoy this podcast. This is peoples’ lives and identities we are talking about. Thank you so much for reading this!

    Using your platform respectfully
Hey Melissa and Tye, I’ve been a listener for a while and have always really enjoyed your sense of humor, especially as it relates to raising your family! I’ve never written a review and have never really reached out to podcast hosts giving feedback, but I did feel inclined to after your most recent episode. I understand that the Demi rant was about how over the top their alien comments were… Ha, we agree there! But your joking about pronoun use was hard to hear. As I’m typing this, I just realized I initially typed “her alien comments” and needed to change to “their alien comments”. It is a difficult habit to learn! (And that’s coming from someone who works regularly with trans and non-binary people!) It takes practice and consciousness that is rooted in respect for the people to which we are referring. I’m not trying to be some “woke”, overly politically correct millennial. I don’t believe in cancel culture. But I hear you ask for reviews and you’ve always indicated that you’re willing to accept criticism, if it’s constructive. So, that’s what I’m hoping to provide. You encouraged Tye to use “Demi” and avoid pronoun use altogether so people wouldn’t be offended. It seemed this request was more motivated by not wanting to lose followers/listeners more than actually acknowledging Demi’s gender identify, as the whole conversation became kind of a mockery of pronouns. Perhaps you were laughing more at yourselves that it wasn’t feeling natural to use they/them/theirs pronouns? But if you’re open to becoming more comfortable with using someone’s correct pronouns, it’s encouraged to truly make a respectful effort to use them correctly. If you “mess up” (like I did earlier as I typed), you can simply correct yourself and continue! If you don’t quite understand (or are willing to learn about) LGBTQ+ matters, please, please just leave those conversations out of such a public forum. The world is learning new, more accepting habits. You’re raising children who are part of that world. And yes, the pendulum can certainly swing too far with censorship and political correctness (the exact point you were initially trying to make with the alien conversation). But, when the issue is about acknowledging such a fundamental and complicated part of someone’s identify, it’s worth the effort to at least try to get it right. Thank you for reading this and for being willing to learn. That’s all for my “tant and rant!”
