This used to be one of my favorites. Since the former host has been away, the quality of discussion has plummeted. The panel is unorganized and has not been prepared well for the last three or four shows. Tired of bad sound quality and lack of planning. Painful to listen.

    Another Great Podcast from SQPN
Love the panel discussion. They always point out details that I have missed and I have to go back and watch it again. Love all of the fine details and all the different references they discuss. They sometimes discuss that they freeze frame the video and look at the scenes. LOVE IT!!!!! Thank you for a great podcast!

    Huge fan
I'm a hardcore who listens to Fr. Roderick nearly daily & I must say I have been highly impressed with this podcast series yet again. I've only caught bits of pieces of the actual show from family & friend but this show has gotten me very much into it.

    GETTING BETTER with EVERY EPISODE
I have listened to every episode and find this panel enjoyable and insightful. They always have enlighting analysis of the details of the show..... some of which I missed. I love the ethical and philosophical discussion.... I get bored when it is related to other TV show and movies only I like deeper thoughtful discussions. Mostly positive in view points but they pull no punches when the show misses the mark. This is the must listen to podcast.................. Anna.

A must listen if you are a fan of Once Upon a Time
First of all, I love watching ABC's Once Upon A Time. The creators have taken classic fairy tales and put a spin on them with some new characters and scenarios. It is my TV highlight of the week. Along with that, my podcast highlight of the week is Secrets of Once Upon a Time. I have tried several of the other OUAT podcasts and this one stands out far beyond the rest. Father Roderick, Lisa, Shelly, Inge, Deborah and David all seem like people that I'd chat with at the dinner table about the episode. They bring great insight into (not only the episode), but other "hidden mickeys" that the writers inserted into the show. This isn't a job for these people, it is truly a passion. Never a bore, this is a podcast I listen to on road trips or around the house as a way to see if my thoughts on the show match up to theirs. Give them a chance if you like dissecting your favorite show!
  • Always Greatful
    I enjoy this podcast
I love how they go into details. I just wish the weekly podcast came out the same day as the episode on TV so that I could listen to it right after the show.

    A fan from the start
I have loved this podcast since the beginning. I love Father Rodrick insight and love of all things Disney. I so happy he started a Dr Who podcast. I appreciate Debra's knowledge of Disney. Look forward to the weekly podcasts. They make my work night pass quickly and more enjoyable.

    Multiple Points of View
I look forward to this one due to the multiple unique perspectives. Everyone who partcipates seems to have a different point of view / point of reference. I don't always agree and I sometimes wonder why specific details have been left out -- but overall, it comes across as a lively discussion among good friends.

    Always a Great Time!!
Hey guys! I had to come over and complete a review! I cannot believe that anyone would post anything negative about your show. I have been listening since the end of season 2 and caught up on all prior epsides I had missed this summer. Your show is very entertaining and I look forward to your podcast just as much as I look forward to my Sunday nights! Your thoughts, theories, and analysis make your show interesting. You have a great time laughing at yourselves and I think you work hard to bring a wonderful and fun show. It's a fun TV show and the podcast should be also. You guys have great conversations, wonderful laughs!! You guys are all great and I look forward to your next podcast! Thanks and keep up the great work!! :-)

    Lots Of Fun!
This is a great podcast, fun to listen and get different points of view and I always hear about so many things I missed in the episodes! A great way to get your OUAT "fix" during the week while you're waiting for the next episode!

    Fun, great discussions
This is an insightful podcast with people that seem like friends of mine sitting around discussing the show. I love the varied personalities and interests. Great references to pop culture, literature, and religion. I look forward to the podcast almost as much as the show itself!

A great podcast from a unique perspective
Secrets of Once Upon A Time is hosted by a Catholic priest from the Netherlands along with his friends from the USA and other countries This makes the analysis of each episode unique. I like this podcast a lot.

    Favorite!
Once Upon a Time is my favorite tv show and this is my favorite fan podcast :)

    No spoilers please
I love listening to this podcast but I wont anymore since there are LOTS of spoilers about other tv shows - Lost and Battlestar Galactica are two examples. I understand it is useful to compare to other shows, but I wish more care was taken to ensure no plot points are being given away (e.g. this person died and then came back).

    Excellent
Another quality podcast from SQPN, very detailed analysis, excellent explanation. Enjoyable, I never miss an episode. A must listen for any OUAT fan!!!

    Losing steam...and fast
I'm currently subscribed to multiple OUAT podcasts and there was a point where I considered this one my favorite OUAT podcast. I really enjoy the positivity and the opinions of the commentators, since many of them are from different countries. However, as the series progresses and stories are becoming more complex and feature many more clever nods to fairy tales/pop culture, there is a language barrier that slows this podcast down. This podcast is becoming increasingly frustrating. MANY references go unnoticed and, very often, the commentators fill the space with unrelated tangents that make the listener go, "What are they even talking about?" I also enjoy a fan podcast that does its research. For a show as deep as OUAT, if an episode covers a specific fairy tale/mythology, you'd expect someone on the podcast to do a little digging. I can't count the number of times Fr. Roderick and co. have cut someone off by saying, "Ehhh, I'm not familiar with that [story/actor/tale/motif/etc.]...oh well. Let's move on..." It's a disservice to the show and the fans. It was once insightful, now it's just a waste of time.

    Not so Good
This podcast is not as good as Other Side of the Mirror or Operation Cobra. The host forgots basic plot points and where scene are taking place. There seem to be an anti-Belle bias. In 'Dark Hollow' a Belle centric, they hardly focused on her at all and the significance of certain items to her story, like the tea cup. There are better podcasts out there than this one.

    Great!!
I enjoy listening every week...thankyou so much for having no swearing or God's name in vain in your podcast!! Keep it up!!

    Occasionally insightful, often lacking
While I initially thought this would be an interesting podcast with unique religious and cultural insights, it has failed to meet those expectations. Many times they forget main characters' names and important events that happen in an episode or simply get an event wrong. Sometimes they have an interesting theory or two but I find this show lacking on notes, references and just in general. On another note sometimes it is difficult to even understand what the hosts are saying. I still listen occasionally but I prefer other podcasts over this one. At one point I deleted it from my subscriptions and recently thought I would give it another chance. However, they have still failed to meet my expectations. My suggestions would be to use the words "um", "uh" sparingly, do some research, know the characters' names( this is very important!), and maybe taking notes during the episodes so you don't miss little bits and pieces would help my view of the show. I realize that this may not be the only podcast produced by this group but this particular one seriously needs work.

    Pretty awful
Saying that having two moms makes a child evil? And crazy? I will not be listening to this show if this is the stance this podcast takes.

    Awesome!!

They try to hard and grasp at straws
The host is arrogant and the show isn't very insightful.

Great show with great insights into an amazing series!

    Enjoyable
I enjoy this Once Upon A Time podcast. I listen to a lot of OUAT podcast and I like how they don't rehash the whole episode but just get to the nitty gritty. They have interesting theories, not all I agree with, but definitely gives me something to think about.

Truely knowledgeable / Truely thought provoking and FUN !!!
11--6-2012 ....... I look forward to listening to the analysis of ONCE UPON A TIME from this group of podcasters every week. It is one of my favorite podcast. I love the discussions from the multiple aspects ..... psychological, philosphical, theological, traditional and pop culture. The panel always discuss insights and details I missed. THE only thing I do not like about this podcast is it occurs so late in the week. I would rather have it right after the show airs...... but I understand they do not always get to see it at the same time I do, here in the USA. THIS IS A DO NOT MISS PODCAST. NONNIE ..

    Fun, multilayered anaylisis
Great analysis from many angles including literature, religion, culture, disneyana, star wars, lost and life itself. I am a word Junkie and the podcast gangs interest in the meaning of names and title is fascinating. Try this one

    Insightful
Just finished listening to the "We Are Both" podcast episode, and Fr Roderick was in his element. Really fantastic insights into the themes of the show that you probably won't get anywhere else.

    Love it!
I just discovered this podcast 2 days ago and I'm already halfway through the episodes lol. I always love Father Roderick's podcasts, his passions are so evident. I feel like I've found a group of kindred spirits, these people that get such a kick of dissecting all the fun little minute details! Thank you to the podcasters, and thanks SQPN!

Favorite Once Upon a Time PodCast
This podcast is great because they look into the history and orgins of the stories the writers are drawing from and they know the Disney and Biblical references. Its to bad the first 14 episodes are no longer here they were good too. This podcast is for those who want to enjoy the show and know where the stories are based on and to see the Disney influences.
  • mjcc64
One of the best OUAT podcasts
Love the podcast. I appreciate the depth of the discussion as well as the research they do to talk about the background and definitely look for Easter Eggs!
  • DrShemp
    Outstanding!
This podcast is a great blend of pop culture, Disney, classic fairy tails, philosophy, theology, and mythology. The panel have great insight. I listen to this with my entire family.

On their way to a happy ending
As usual, I love Fr. Roderick's commentary, and he does a good job of finding cohosts who are excited about the material, which translates into more excitement for the listener. My daughter and I are really enjoying this tv series, and the podcasts really add to our enjoyment. ABC should be sending Fr. Roderick free disney passes or something!

    Updated review
Love the show. Still like the podcast, sort of. Fr. Roderick talks way too much and sometimes cannot even keep the names straight! I'd suggest all members of the podcast make notes before recording the podcast. Also, fans of the show don't need recaps of the episodes -- especially long recaps that are poorly delivered. this podcast could be so much better with a little more preparation by the hosts.
  • Lindaislost
    Great podcast
I've tried to listen to other OUAT podcasts, but this is the one that gets into the fine details. I find it very refreshing to listen to a podcast devoid of profanity and family oriented. Love the references to other shows (especially the Lost references as it is the same team producing the show.) I'm nowhere near being a Catholic so I love that the religeous and secular themes mesh so well. Thanks for using up hours of my life, since after listening I often have to go back and rewatch.

    One of the Best
This is an excellent podcast. Fr. Roderick and his panel have expertise that is both entertaining and insightful. They do their homework and they make connections to other programs. I for one, never tire of LOST referrences. I love that they point out all the names have meaning. Fr. Roderick excells at explaining the morality of a story without getting preachy. I won't miss an episode.

    Great podcast!
This is a great podcast to accompany the hit ABC show! With multiple hosts they give you a multitude of theories and ideas about what is going on, and what is going to happen. The hosts seem to have great chemistry. I really enjoyed the podcasts when Deborah joined because she provides a more indepth look into Disney.
  • danaefae
Would be great if they'd get rid of the heavy religious tones
The hosts started the podcast saying that they were Christian, but weren't going to make it a religious podcast, yet they have in many ways. It seems that nothing can be discussed without pointing out it's ties to the bible (or Disney). I want a podcast that discusses the show without it being a trip to Sunday school as well.

    Great podcast!
This podcast makes me watch Once Upon a Time carefully! I watched Once on Father Roderick's recommendation and thought it was pretty good. After listening to the podcast I realized I was going to have to do more than passively watch each episode. I now love searching for all the clues and then comparing my ideas with the panelists. I'm really looking forward to the next episode!

Fr. Roderick and his guests have very interesting conversations. It is another SQPN podcast that's fun to listen to.

A Great exploration of Once Upon a Time
The hosts of this podcast are adept at delving into Once Upon a Time because they have a wealth of knowledge about the various fairytale stories and their Disney interpretations. Also they are able to pick up on other thematic elements such as religious allusions not necesarily picked up on by the viewer initially. Finally, as a Lost fan, I appreciate their familiarity with it, as there are some connections with Once Upon a Time.

    Great
Best podcast to uncover the 'secrets' of this twisting story!!!! It would b better if it was updated tho!!!!!!!

    My favorite show and podcast!
Thank-you, Fr. Roderick, for adding this great podcast to your ever busy schedule! Also, many thanks to your panelists for their insights, etc.! I eagerly await each new episode of the show and podcast!!! Y'all are great!!! Lost in Texas...
  • SoCal Barn Gal
    Mixed bag
Skip the first three podcasts because they weren't very interesting or enlightening and co-panelists Deborah ("I missed that!") and David added very little. At times the references to LOST and Disney are too much, but I actually find the references to Biblical stories fascinating and one of the highlights of this podcast. Not surprisingly, this is where Fr. Roderick excels in providing commentary. There is a fair amount of unnecessary chatter in every episode - I don't need to hear about the weather in Texas or whatever - and there seem to be issues with microphones that get commented on and everyone spends too much time plugging their other blogs. Note that the podcasts get significantly better when Shelly joins around podcast 5 and two of the original three panelists bow out. I will be curious to see if future podcasts provide greater insight as the season progresses. As of podcast 6, this has been a mixed bag and would recommend you pass for now.

    Fun podcast
I was getting bored with the show before I started listening to this podcast. The podcast brought a lot of the hidden aspects of the show to my attention so I now am more interested in continuing to watch.

    So much fun!
This is fast becoming one of my favorite podcasts! It's so helpful to hear the hosts' notes on awesome details that I missed, and it gives me a new group of fellow fans to exchange theories and solve plot puzzles with. Thanks for this great podcast!
