    The New Polleys Are…
There is no way Richard Rohr comes back on this podcast.

    I Love These Guys
But what happened to the Polleys?
  • bryce tolbert
    Nope.
Crazy to me these guys can’t see they’re as horrible of people and as insufferable as the republicans and anyone else who disagrees with them. Unlistenable at this point.

A good escape from the chaos
I wondered what happened to these three after meeting two of them at the corner cheesecake place. I’ve loved Matt and Beth for years and decided to see what kind of trouble Matt’s gotten himself into now and that’s when I stumbled upon this gem of a podcast. Thanks guys! An old lady up near Waverly appreciates you.

    Thought I already did this
I’ve listened for a few years. I’ve been in the Pub for a few years. I’ve attended a live event (which felt like years ago). Even after all this time, the Inglorious Pasterds is still my favorite show. In re-listening to all the episodes, it feels like I’m hearing the jokes, the stories, and the insightful content for the first time. I can’t get enough.
  • Every sound a color
    The thing is
I only listen because I can smell Matt’s balls from here.

    Honest and Open Discussion
The world needs more of what these guys have to offer. They are always open about what is happening in their lives, their spiritual paths, where it has led them, and that they have no idea where any of it is going. So many people spend their lives simply doing what they’re told to do, believing what they’re told to believe, and blindly rejecting anything that doesn’t fit into the mold they were given. Their brand may be a little… um… off center(?), but they have a more Christ-like mindset than most others who claim to follow a certain set of beliefs regardless of what they personally believe. They have created an open and supportive community that welcomes questions and supports one another with infinite compassion and love. A simple podcast has brought about a stronger spiritual connection and community than any church I’ve ever experienced and for that I will forever be thankful. Thanks, fellas, for letting us in and just being yourselves.

    Embarrassing
Y’all would have more 5 stars if the sound wasn’t randomly dropping out all the time. Literally every episode, and for no apparent reason. Figure it out.

    The return of Laura Beth!
My favorite podcast. Laura Beth was a guest on the first episode I listened to and I was really disappointed when I found out she’s not a permanent host - and that it is, as I’m sure you suspect, hosted by 3 straight white guys. HOWEVER, it is a wonderful listen and I would highly recommend. Love you guys and thanks for all the fish

    It’s about time…. I write a review
I’ve been listening to these 3 yayhoos since the fall of 2017. I’ve listened to all of the episodes and wasted more than 500 hours of my life on their tomfoolery…. Finally figured it was time to step out of shadows and say thanks for the humor and serious conversations. I’m an ordained Seventh-day Adventist pastor, chaplain, and an ACPE certified CPE Educator. I’ve enjoyed the thought provoking conversations and ribald humor. I’ve had to explain myself more than once when my wife walked into the room while I was listening to the pod and some awkward joke wafted over the airwaves. I appreciate what you guys are doing. #cherryflavoredbloodclots #mikedass

    What I needed
Having grown up in the evangelical church in America and realizing it’s done so much harm in my life and in this country, I needed this. It’s not easy to live a life where you love God but no longer want to be a part of the church. It’s so nice to know there are others like me and that they are honest and funny and real. I wish my husband and I could hang out and have a drink with these guys!
  • Fink Daddy
Fat, Juicy, Val Kilmer sized 5-star
These guys are the perfect pick me up after a long week. Even though I may not agree 100% with their theology, they provide an insightful outlook into other beliefs and viewpoints, providing a wide variety of different perspectives, which we could definitely use in times like these. I love all of the segments, but the few that come to mind are “Meditating with Gary Busey” & “Polly’s Poetry Corner”. Hope these guys never stop putting out hot content. Keep up the good work Gents. P.S. I love that Brad references Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse Five” “and so it goes...”.

I feel bad for them so here’s the review...
I forgot to leave a review and since you don’t get enough reviews here’s mine. These are my people- down to earth, foul mouthed and screwed over by The Church. It’s a fun time every episode and sometimes I even learn something. Keep up the good work! #wheninfakerome, #riskitforthebiscuit

    Deconstruction, swearing, and alcoholism
If Matt Stone and Trey Parker ever decides to create a religion podcast for South Park, it resemble this podcast. This is meant as a compliment.

Congrats on crossing another milestone! While I appreciate the search for fresh merch ideas, I feel like adult beverage glassware would be preferable to adult toys. Pasterds snifter? Barely knew her!

    Another lib bite is dust
Great theme songs, much better than Veggietales. Michael has nice laugh. So sad to hear the boys have become a communist now, much love from Mother Russia. I’m sure this podcast will a peel to young folks who like fowl language and are triggered by TRUMP, but not exactly the ApologetiX I was hoping to find. Sad. I’m rating 5 stars so that you guys will read it, since you turn blind eye to criticism. But for constructive critisism, try going back to your old micro-phones so I don’t have to hear the heresy so clearly. Before you tell me to stop listening, my phone broke and this is the only thing that will play when I plug my phone into my Audi. Don’t call me an ok boomer though, the Best Buy man who fixes all my problems even said there was no hope for me. Anyways have a blessed day, and call your mom sometime. Not Michael though, he should just text me please and thank you. Remember! Drunkeness is a sin!! P.S. My honest rating is probably 3.3, it’s a holy number, and you need more holiness. Less cussing and heresy and maybe you’ll get a 4 from me...Who knows?!?! PPS Check out Franklin Graham some time, he could really brighten up your radio show to

At the gym this morning I listened to episode 691 of This American Life, titled Gardens of Branching Paths. Later that morning I got in the car and listened to your epitode #146.* If you listen to the first few minutes of the This American Life podcast, you'll hear why my jaw dropped when I started listening to your interview with Christopher White. *I've been listening for almost two years, in order from epitode #1, so it will still be awhile till I'm caught up to you in the present. #definitelyagentile John Soyster P.S. Re: your comments on my review from last June. Someday I'll open a seafood restaurant in an abandoned monastery and call it...Soyster's Oyster Cloister. John

    Just what I needed.
I have been listening to these guys for about 2 years now. I have also been in the in the process of “losing” my faith. Though not knowing it when all this started, the Pasterds put words to what I was feeling. My “deconstruction” has unfortunately cost me my marriage, my faith, and many relationships in the church. I wouldn’t change a thing! If it wasn’t for this podcast, I don’t know where I would be. I honestly feel a kinship with the Pasterds, their guests, and the pub. Thank you Michael, Matt and Brad for your honesty, good beer suggestions and dirty jokes that you brought to my life.

Do I have to put a title in to post a review... fine...
Hey, just started listening in Sept. good hearing from you morons again. Your honesty and shenanigans take me back a bit. Good to know some things don’t change. However, I’ve found it interesting seeing where you are at with the church and where I am and what parallels there are. Your discussions have been reassuring to me. If you ever make it back to Spencer I’d love to buy you all a round at the Civilian Brewing Corps. It’d be nice to catch up. -Evan PS: Hey Brad, what’s Longview about?

    Theeyy’rree grreeaatt!!!
I have been struggling with where I stand with the church and Christianity for a while now and this podcast has helped me through that journey. Further up further in is filled with challenging insight and great interviews. The feedback/hashtag section is hilarious and always manages to make me laugh on rough days. If you are listening and are not in the pub, get there. The pub is more than just a safe place, it’s family. Just last night I was struggling with some stuff and I posted in the pub and the support was awesome. If you feel like you are standing alone, you’re not. Get in the pub. Patreon.com/pasterdspodcast

    Honest, vulnerable, irreverent, insufferable, inglorious
Three friends who were burned by and through ministry in the American Evangelical “church,” share their journeys of deconstruction/reconstruction. It is a wild, crazy ride that will make you laugh, cry and think. If you are easily offended, this is not for you. If you can have fun and think and be moved to action all in the course of an evening, then belly up to the bar and enjoy! I love these guys. I hope you will, too. Captain Promotable

    Makes work easier
Finally caught up after a month in half of binging. You guys help me get through the 12 hour shifts. And have helped me stop being mad at God (still working on the church).

    Couldn’t say enough
You are all so real and so present I can’t help but feel refreshed even when nothing intelligent is happening (which is about 40% of every episode). I’ll always listen to the Pasterds podcast
  • Napoleon1492
    Just a overall fun time.
I really enjoy this podcast for the laughter it brings me on my way to school some mornings. I find the secret to making it even more enjoyable is to slow the audio down to half speed and listen to it that way. Works well as audio medicine. 😂😂😂😂

Can Only Share This Podcast with Other Enlightened Folks
While I love listening to these interviews - it's not for the faint of heart. Sometimes it gets me to a place of sadness thinking about people who are trapped in their theology and doctrine to the detriment of them and others. I've watched people be manipluated, bullied, and abused in the church so often and yet I still believe in Jesus and have had to separate the actions of church goers with the love of God. I can't share this podcast with most the people in my life, because of their own issues... One day, I hope they challenge themselves buuuuuut... So leave your politics, your bias, and your mantras at the door when you begin one of the episodes because these men have some serious wisdom to drop on their listeners. And I know they tease about quitting, but please don't. "Deconstruction" is a tearing down of the walls that your teachers, preachers, parents, and mentors have built for you. I'm in a place where it's time for me to build something of my own... not a wall, never again, but a path for me to walk on as I struggle with meaning (or the lack thereof). Your podcast gets me thinking and rethinking issues I thought were immovable and honestly, THANK GOD (pun intended).

Good luck, we’re all counting on you.
First, I want to say that the first time I listened to the podcast, the first half of the show almost turned me off totally to it. Lots of inside jokes and innuendos that I thought were really over the top. Then, I got to the meat of the show, the further up and further in segment. My first thought was “sweet Narnia reference!”, second was that I was impressed by the depth and openness of thought about the subjects presented. I found people with the seemingly same heart, thought and struggle as my own. I had found my tribe. After listening to the next few podcasts, the inside jokes became funnier to me as I was able to let down my guard, and to appreciate the vague references to pop culture. I was in. Thanks for doing this. I feel like comrades in arms with the guys and the entire pub, even though I have never met any of you. (Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly

    Just listen.
Seriously one of the best parts of my day is listening to this often irreverent group of dudes dissect and rebuild all things spiritual. Set aside your preconceptions and biases and give them a fair shot. It’s worth your time.

    Epitode 160
I found the Pasterds about a year ago, not sure what I was looking for. The last thing that I would want to hear on a regular basis would be someone with a sugary cloying syntax going on about the blessings of God; this is not that podcast. Call it “irreverent reverence” maybe: each epitode, once you get past the profane zoo (and by the way I love that), is a conversation that goes into the deep water of faith and doubt, humor and rage, love and...well, love. Our faith heritage is very similar, theirs and mine, as has also been our faith trajectory. It’s good to hear that I am not alone in this current place of head and heart. Thank you, pasterds, for opening your table every week. Thank you for introducing me to a community of thinkers and authors with whom my own belief feels, finally, safe. I laugh with you, argue with you, sometimes worry about you, but hearing you makes me know that we’ll all be just fine. Keep podcasting. I’ll be listening - in Arkansas #TexasWithoutTheWhimsey (was that Little Rock or something?)

    Longer, Harder, Hot Content
I hope this counts as it's my second review on here, but somebody needs to give these greedy pasterds the stars they deserve! If you enjoy hosts that take the time needed on important topics. (Unless it's past 9:30) If you enjoy subject matter that hits in the places you may not always want, but somehow need. If you enjoy a heaping dish of hot content delivered on a consistant basis. Have we got a show for you. Over 2 years ago this one little podcast flipped the world as I knew it upside down. And now it is one of many resourses that somehow keeps me walking on that ceiling. They are hilarious, insightful, and not too shabby with a soundboard. You can say you're on Team Matt, Team Brad, or Team Michael, but lets be honest, ain't nobody going to listen to a show with only a single one of these guys. The group is where it's at, and it works, surprisingly well. The pub is a great community, even though I had to leave some time ago due to personal reasons in hopes to be back at some point. However, the patreon support is well worth it with the additional content they release. If there was one oppinion of mine that would make the show more enjoyable, it would be to be nicer to Steve Austin, that man is a saint!!!
  • stevegingr
    Ingloriously rewarded
The pub won’t change your life or anything but I can’t imagine more laughs for $1 a month! Currently the drunken yelling near the end of nearly every episode is what gets me thru my week! Seriously though these guys are working through their struggles and it’s been an honor to listen and discuss the brokenness of life with them.

    This Podcast Is Dangerous...
If you are a conservative evangelical fundie (which I used to be, so I understand), the ideas discussed here could put you on a slippery slope that could lead from questioning what you've always been told to (gasp!) thinking for yourself (a practice very much discouraged in most churches.) (You could even find yourself using way too many parentheses.) If you are super-serious, uptight and stuffy, the irreverent and frequently off-color humor might offend your belief that people should have as little fun as possible. If you are just someone who enjoys wise-cracking dudes who thoughtfully discuss spiritual topics, then this podcast may be dangerous in other ways. It can be difficult to drive safely while laughing hysterically. You may get weird looks if others observe you cackling madly at the voices in your ears. You could lose all track of time while hearing interviews with fascinating guests. You may find yourself tearing up at inopportune moments during touching stories. Or you could find yourself in need of a clean pair of undies when the guys discuss their hashtags. #WetBagOfShards #UnidentifiedRuminantMeat #OverstimulatedRaccoon You have been warned.

Great Show for the Spiritually "I dunno"
This show is a lot of fun and perfect for those of us who grew up evangelical and left that nonsense behind. If you go back and forth from "I don't believe" to "I'm just spiritual" to "I believe--I think" then you'll find some good company on this podcast. When they get serious they offer amazing insights that I've found to be very helpful over the past 3 years. Their podcast was a big part of my journey from ardent atheist to the "I believe--I think" camp.

I can only give 5 stars
I enjoy listening to the Pasterds when I’m having a stack of pancakes at Denny’s, wondering where my life took this dark turn.

    a great podcast for moms!
Hey Godly Gals! Does the eternal fate of your child's soul keep you up at night? Does the spectre of secularism make you wary of your homeschool curriculum? Are you desperately seeking Christ-centered role models other than President Trump and Steven Anderson? Well Michael, Brad and Matt will not only give you their tips and tools for navigating these persecuted times, but will give you a weekly injection of Biblical truth serum, keeping your family on the straight and narrow!

    From a Transplanted Hoosier Sister
Thank you for reminding me what fellow hoosiers sound like. I began listening to your podcast when I was living in Ireland for my Masters and I missed the familiarity of my dad’s voice. If my dad possessed a raunchier sense of humour around his children (even as adults) I think he’d sound like you all. I have struggled with my faith for years now even coming out of the Disciples of Christ church. Please know that the work you do is important and helps some of us remember to have a glimmer of hope in humanity during what feel on occasion like dark times. As a side note, you guys need proper Irish booze. Home brewers are grand; however, nothing beats a cold pint of Smithwicks. (Pronounced Smit-icks)

    Digging the show!
Great referral from a friend! Love the banter and insight. Also love the fact the you called out Jason Forrester for never listening to a podcast! He’s never even heard himself on our Pod. BTW, he hates Tom Petty, and that’s just un-American! Love, Brad
  • Quartylynn
    Fantastic!
A great podcast for those of us who may be struggling with our relationship with the church and its rules but want to remain to have a good relationship with God. Fun, relaxed, but with some strong ideas to get you thinking throughout your day. Love it!

    Well worth the time.
This podcast is a gateway drug to a whole new world of religious thought. Although it is generally irreverent and at times downright silly, the meat of each episode is well worth listening to Michael and Brad spaz out on their soundboards (to Matt's eternal dismay) on the way to frank discussions of searching for truth and the search for Truth. If you're seeking to meet with God in a fresh new way, trying to reprogram from years of fundamentalist Phariseeism, are done with religion entirely but still want a compass, or just want to listen to Richard Rohr sound clips at an annoying frequency, this podcast (and the community behind it) are meant for you.
  • JTForrest
I laughed, I cried, I learned about life.
The Pasterd have a unique blend of history, perspective and irreverence that makes them a unique voice in the genre. These guys are the real deal, and they speak their truth with a ton of heart. I listen to these guys more than any other show. Keep it up!

    Wanna be inside their Heaven
Michael, Matt, and Brad blend irreverent humor with a lot of heart, and they ask the questions that you’ve been wondering but afraid to bring up in church. They genuinely care about their listeners and seem to be making a difference in a lot of lives that a traditional community of faith could never reach. This podcast, and guys like Pete Enns, Rob Bell, and Richard Rohr, have kept me from throwing in the towel. They have a recurring cast of lovable characters (Bojangles, Lucas Allen, etc.) and have introduced me to some AMAZING guests like Nish Weiseth, Cathleen Falsani, and Pickens, all of whom I was floored by and would love to hear more from. All this being said, I do feel they missed an opportunity last week #BananaSabbath …which is pretty much the reason I finally wrote a review (sorry it took so long). Also I can’t believe with Michael’s encyclopedic knowledge of CCM and P&W songs, especially those with euphemistic undertones, that I’ve never heard him mention Ten Shekel Shirt’s “Meet With Me” which has the inspiring chorus “you come, you come, and you fill this place”… I still love that song, but feel a little dirty about it.

    Them Polley Boys
I remember them Polley Boys from way back. Always the two of them up to this and that, and there was a little fella name of Michael what always tagged alongside of 'em. Whew. Just thinking of 'em gets me to laughin'. I shall never forget the day they got me into the biggest pickle of my young life. Y'see, it was one of those unforgiving hot days in Indiana. I was standin' outside of Old Man Kroger's store, doing my best to mind my own business. Well, tearin' up the road comes Brad, Matt, and (yes, of course!) Little Michael, all piled into that truck they had. "Get in!" they say to me. So, bein' the trusting sort, I obliged. After a few moments of laughing, cussing and carrying on, I guess my curiosity got the best of me. So I asked them, "Where are we headed?" It was then that a wicked smile crept over Michael's lips. "We're going to a sex doll brothel!" he cried, at which the Polley Boys hooted and hollered like I don't know what. Long story short, that was a night to remember. I hadn't thought of it until recently, when the oldest Polley brother died. I still think of 'em every now and then.

Three wise sages (or maybe not/)
Came for the deconstruction journey but stayed because of the soundboard, laughs, hashtags, FUFI and overall for the stupidly AWESOME epitodes...love how these guys have true and honest relationships and don’t BS or sugarcoat each other (or the listeners/FB community). You can learn a lot about God through this podcast and the community around it. This could be what a true church should feel like! Love wasting 2hrs or more of my life every week in their company.

My coffee almost came out of my nose
I thought I’d learned my lesson last week about listening to Michael, Matt and Brad while at work, but apparently I didn’t. Because I did it again today, and almost spit my coffee out...several times. I really appreciate the mix of humor and serious conversations you guys have. And the community you’re building in The Pub is beautiful. Thank you for making me laugh and helping me feel less alone in this whole deconstruction process.

    Buttered in the bush
I might be fully buttered as I write this review (thanks to a negroni or two with some local beers) but over the past nearly 2 years of listening to you all I’ve rarely been disappointed. I honestly still can’t tell the difference between Brad and Matt during any given epitode, but that doesn’t lessen the wisdom you share. I particularly appreciate when ya’ll refer to God in a non-male form. Whether that is female or gender neutral... Michael, please stop #deepthroatingthepickle into the microphone at all opportunities. Keep up the good work. Thanks for being thoughtful and vulnerable. It’s been great to grow along side you. Maybe I’ll see you in the pub soon.

A podcast that turns into a family.
I’ve been listening for over a year, after the first epitoad I joined the pub. The podcast has turned invaluable for my wife and I. The conversations have taught me how useless labels really are and sparked the inspiration to live more authentically and honestly after years of evangelical repression. Can’t thank you boys enough, love you long Tim. #Raaaaannnnnnddddyyyyy!!!!
