The 5k Race Podcast

21

This is a community for those who are trying to run their first 5k or run their best ever 5k! I was a very competitive 5k cross country runner in high school, but that was many moons ago! Now I have made my way back to the sport of running in my late 30’s (36 to be exact) with the goal to run my fastest 5k ever by the age of 40. I want to share this journey with you and share my years of experience with racing, injuries and more; to help you become the best runner you can possibly be.

One of my favorite running podcasts.
Excellent podcast for beginners and those returning to running! I especially appreciate the emphasis on injury prevention. Very practical information! This is one of my favorite running podcasts.

    Practical and Helpful
I have only been running regularly for less than a year, and starting this sport in your thirties as an out-of-shape mom of two is challenging! I found myself loving the sport, but so confused with all the information out there about scheduling, different types of training, etc. It seemed like a lot of the content available was geared toward people who run a lot of marathons...definitely not me. Shawn’s practical, straightforward advice has been such a blessing! I think he addresses the concerns that most of us real, everyday, non-professional runners face. Looking forward to more excellent episodes!

    Motivational and endearing
This podcast details the trials and tribulations of an “age group” competitive runner. I find the stream of consciousness banter very relatable and find myself rooting for the host as he works through the ups and downs of striving for personal success at the 5k race and beyond!

    Thumbs up!
Like talking to your running friend about how to get faster. Conversational POV. Practical and sound advice that anyone with a running base can implement to reach their short race goals.

    Very helpful
I’m a running novice at best, but this podcast has helped me so much. For years, I’ve jogged a few months and then I’d get an injury and take a while off, rinse, repeat. It was very discouraging. This podcast helped me modify my plan for the sake of long term success. I love it.

    Beginner friendly running podcast
I am a casual runner that likes to run a spartan sprint once a year. I have found this podcast to be helpful because those courses are roughly 5k. Though I am not competitive, the training methods described are interesting and useful. It’s also interesting to hear him speak about what it is like to be a competitive runner.

    Thank you!
Finally a podcast specifically to the 5K race. Since we have so much in common, me being a high school and college star. Now a comeback being absent from running for 30 years. I find these podcasts are talking about me. They are dead on with what I’m going through. Once I broke 15 minutes in the 5k. Now at 58 I’m struggling to break 20 again. But with Jack Daniels system and The 5k show, I know I’ll get there soon.

    5k’s are my fav.
I think this podcast has a great premise and a lot of potential. It would be nice to see it take off and give the 5k a podcast voice. There were many great points shared about the 5k. I have raced 5k’s, 10k’s, half’s, and marathons, and I have come to realize that when I am in a 5k I am actually running, meanwhile half’s I’m basically jogging and marathons literally just surviving!
