I love this show and I love Stephanie BUT the sound quality isn’t great. Listening to this show I always have turn my volume to the highest it goes. I have an iPhone 15 and use an Amazon Spot speaker with it. I do NOT have this issue with other podcasts and I listen to upwards of 50. The end of the year issue sound quality was especially poor as Stephanie sounded like she was muffled & speaking into a tin can. Rachel was clearer but again volume wasn’t great. I am continuing to listen to the show as I enjoy Stephanie’s content but please consider fixing the sound!

I can always trust Stephanie and her guests to introduce new books that I’ve never heard of. Not every subgenre they cover is something I read but I always listen because of the interesting conversations and because maybe they will mention a book that piques my interest.

It’s always great to witness people who are good at what they do. Stephanie is a wonderful podcaster who brings out the best in her guests. Books in the Freezer gifts listeners with a long list of horror books and movies with every show. The growing “final girl” songs on Spotify are such a fun bonus!

Stephanie has conceived of an exciting and fun format for horror interviews! And she gets the best guests!

I’ve had a running joke for years with my friend about putting books that upset us in the freezer so I was so excited to find this podcast and even more excited to find it’s even better than I could have hoped. I don’t have a lot of irl friends that love reading horror as much as I do so the book recs at the end are so greatly appreciated. If I could give this more tuan 5 stars I would.

I actually think it’s ok to “spoil” a book or movie that’s been out 1+ years. Missed opportunity to discuss “Get Out”!

This podcast ticks all my boxes. Stephanie is a talented host with a lovely voice. She keeps the show moving at a balanced pace, not overly structured or too free-for-all. I love the guests she has had on, and the wide variety of sub genres that are touched on. My TBR list grows longer with each episode that comes out, and have been reading a lot of new authors and styles that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I really enjoy the Final Girl Song and Chilling Obsession traditions. I love how positive this show is in tone, too, with the focus on what they like about a given topic instead of dislikes, and just general positive vibes from Stephanie and her guests.

I watch both of these women on "booktube". It is really great to listen to other women who like to read and talk about horror. Edit: I still listen to this podcast years later, and it just grows in my estimation. Stephanie is great and the guests are roundly fantastic. Long live horror fiction.

This is the first horror podcast I found and remains a favorite. I love that we get a woman’s insight into horror, but I also love how mellow Stephanie is while remaining entertaining. This allows the guests to be centered. Too often, the hosts of podcasts center themselves but Stephanie does a good job of keeping the show moving while making the guest feel like the star. Very well done! I also love that she asks thoughtful questions and has so many great themes. Very entertaining show!

I had almost completely given up reading for I don't even know how long and then I came across Stephanie on TikTok around 2 years ago. It was her wildly successful extreme horror video which piqued my interest immediately. As soon as I found out she had this podcast I subscribed and I look forward to the release of each episode. Stephanie is smart and funny and has a unique take on books from a variety of horror sub genres. Her guests are always witty and enjoyable to listen to and my tbr cart grows with every episode. Thanks Stephanie for giving me back the desire to read!!

The book reviews and temperature rating system are so much fun! I have loved this podcast for horror book recommendations. The chatter at the beginning of the episodes is sometimes a little excessive and I could totally do without the woke social commentary. Stick to book info.

Is it weird to call a podcast about horror books ‘cozy?’ Maybe it’s Stephanie’s soothing voice or the ambient theme music, but something about this show makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I just started listening and I love the guests and books they talk about, which of course I’ve all added to my ever growing TBR pile. Keep up the amazing work!

I love this podcast, have gotten so many great book recommendations from it but why is the host SOOO quiet ?? I can’t barely hear her part of the discussion. I can always here the guest perfectly but the host is barely audible . Great content though. Just listen to it in a very quiet space.

I really love this pod, my “want to read” list on Goodreads grows with every episode. I love that they have such diverse content, covering horror subgenres, recommending readalikes, and interviewing authors. It really has something for anyone interested in horror- even if every episode doesn’t interest you specifically, there’s almost certainly something in the feed that will.

There’s a lot to like about this podcast. The host really knows her stuff, has great recommendations and has had some amazing guests. There’s just one problem. She can not get through even one sentence without a generous helping of girlish giggling. It really takes away from the interviews and becomes almost embarrassing to listen to after a while. Other than that…love it.

There is nothing better than talking about horror books! I could listen to this podcast all day, everyday. I get so excited for each new episode. I am constantly adding books to my TBR and have found some new favorites thanks to Stephanie’s recommendations. I have also ventured out of my comfort zone a bit more than normal thanks to Books in the Freezer.

I love talking about books almost as much as I like buying books- this podcast is like chatting with a few friends about the awesome books they’re reading in one of my fave genres. I love that they never spoil any plot lines or assume that the listener has already read whatever book is being discussed. Books In The Freezer is an amazing horror related podcast hosted by Stephanie Gagnon. It’s a podcast that I look forward to with each release and play it as soon as possible after getting the notification that it’s up! I’m obsessed with the theme song of this one. It’s seriously spooky! The host, Stephanie, is incredible. I love listening to her take on the books that she has read and what her latest chilling obsession is. I’ve purchased SO many books thanks to her and Rachel’s (the previous co-host) recommendations! When discussing the books, I loved that Stephanie and the guests will say that it is room temperature or that they would put it in the freezer! This is such a fun element that never fails to make me chuckle. I also really enjoy that Stephanie asks for audience input from time to time as well!

This is by far my favorite podcast. I love horror, but this goes beyond that. Love the host and there are many interesting guests, both known and unknown to me. I’ve added so many books to my TBR, many of which I had no knowledge of prior to listening. I highly recommend it!

I love this podcast! I discovered it fairly recently and have already listened to all of the episodes. It’s the horror fiction podcast I’ve always wanted. The host is great at recommending books (and movies and shows), and she has awesome guests on to talk about the various kinds of horror as well as tropes and themes in the genre. Highly recommend.

I didn’t even know I liked reading horror fiction until I found this podcast. (I don’t love horror movies.) The hosts are great at providing a variety of titles and mentioning if there are certain disturbing elements so I know to steer clear. I have read several of their picks and trust them to help me find great spooky books! A great listen!

I am SO thankful that this podcast came into my radar! I’ve discovered it pretty recently and it has got me so excited about reading again. As an avid horror/thriller fan, this was just what I needed in my life at this time. I’ve already bought 8 books recommended and almost finished my first one. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the podcast. You guys are killing it!

As a person whose recently been getting into the horror genre, this podcast is great! I love the rating system and the hosts are fun and informative.

I have recently become interested in trying to read books in the horror genre. This podcast is excellent and I have added many books to my never ending tbr. Thank for a wonderful show!

Interestingly enough, I grew up on Goosebumps, The compilation of Scary Stories books was the first book I ever purchased with my own money. But as an adult I had consumed almost no horror, I thought I was too scared. Then I found this podcast. This podcast has singlehandedly got me back in love with horror! I have since added at least one book from each episode to my TBR. I’ve talked about this podcast so much, that when my son sees I have headphones in he asks if I’m listening to Books In The Freezer!! I found you in the last week of July of this year and have since caught up. 57 episodes in 2 months? Safe to say I’m hooked! I now eagerly await the next one!

I am a bookseller and I love this show because it helps me stay on top of my personal TBR list and to hear about new releases. The hosts are warm and nice seeming people and they do a good job of sticking to the format of each episode while also being real and having personalities. 5 stars!

Not only is a discussion of my favorite genre, horror, it is also a well-made podcast. The hosts get along well, they speak articulately and they keep it simple. Keep up the fantastic work.
