I found your podcast through your Earmark app which I love! So thankful to be able to earn CPE so easily while driving and on walks. I was never good at staying up to date with current events related to accounting and I love that you guys make it so easy to do so and it’s not just technical GAAP and IRS updates.

You guys keep current on news and events that impact the accounting profession that I find useful in my job. I also appreciate your fair takes on the current events that impact accountants. Keep up the good work…you make staying relevant as an accountant fun!

Ignore all the “Right Wing” reviews. David and Blake give their unbiased opinion on the news of the day. *WARNING* They call it how it is and don’t worry about hurting your feelings. Don’t listen if you are afraid of people with different opinions than yourself.

This show has been frustrating to listen to for a while due to its hyper fixation on AI Chatbots, however the past several episodes have had David functioning as little more than a font of misinformation in service of the current administration.

I really enjoy listening to this podcast. It’s not too technical, making it easy to follow and fun to listen to. Sometimes the subject material and discussion is pretty surface-level, leaving me wanting a little more depth and insight, but that would be my only critique. It’s nice that they present their opinions as just that - opinions. I don’t always agree with them, but what’s the fun in listening to people if you agree with them all the time? They offer a clear-headed perspective based on situations and facts, not political party. They make their biases known, and they don’t demean or condemn other opinions, but rather welcome dissent and evidence/facts that contradict them. Looks like some of these 1-star listeners could learn something from this podcast about open-mindedness and reasonable discourse, but they’d have to expand their horizons ever so slightly, which seems unlikely.

This show inspired me to get my masters in accounting…still not doing CPA lic though too little pay!!! Keep up the good work guys

This podcast is very informative and brings up great points that affect the accounting industry. They present both sides of the arguments and it is great to listen to.

I’ve been listening for about a year. Very entertaining and informational. Has made my daily commute more productive and enjoyable. I don’t have an issue with the political discussions, but I do see what others are saying about Blake coming off as a jerk. Good example was the Deloitte story David shared about them actually reporting deficiencies on a long time client. Blake’s response was valid, but he really comes off as a jerk in his wording and tone. Not enough to keep me from listening.

I look forward to listening weekly and finding out accounting news that I don’t get anywhere else. It’s always interesting how certain news stories are related to accounting in some way that I would have never thought of.

Blake and David run a great accounting podcast that keeps accountants informed of current events effecting the accounting world. I doubt these people leaving one star reviews even listen to the show, they just hear the word Trump or DOGE and go blind with rage.

Show is very informative. Don’t listen to the haters, they don’t get into politics any more than is required while reporting on current politically driven changes relevant to the industry.

Don’t listen to the haters. These guys are very balanced and offer great insight into what’s happening in the accounting world. It’s only an hour or so, so they don’t cover EVERYTHING, but I love it and never miss an episode.

Found this podcast about a month ago and I am thoroughly enjoying the analysis of current events and the general topics that relate to accounting and finance. I feel like a have a wider breadth of understanding of financial and tax topics. Thanks guys!

I appreciate this podcasts as most accounting coverage (like the aicpa townhalls) are very stuffy and CPE boring. I love the casual format and the info!

My favorite podcast for the past year! Blake and David consistently rise above the “that’s the way it’s always been done” ethos in accounting and work hard to arm their listeners with relevant news and valuable tools. Once, Blake shared an entire AI prompt for research that was brilliant! I paused and re-listened several times to get the whole thing. Love the depth, balance, and intentionality they bring!

Enjoy listening. My favorite accounting related podcast, helps keep me sane. Keep up the great work! Whether it be political, DOGE, PCAOB, IRS, big 4—whether I agree or disagree, I appreciate the sincere perspectives Blake and David give.

I was already falling off this pod because of how utterly dazzled they seem to be by all AI technology. Maybe they see AI as an easy hook to draw people in. Who knows. But with their mind numbing DOGE takes, I can’t really take them seriously. They got worked up about DOGE finding some pre-allocated state funds without asking any of the right questions and just ignoring concepts of procedure and compliance.

Been following the show for a while, but they’ve gotten weirdly defensive about political issues and it’s become a huge turn-off and makes you look at the rest of their insight differently. Just speak about accounting issues, and stop trying to go to bat for Elon Musk.

This podcast is all strawman arguments: “who’s against finding fraud & waste?” Literally no one. But they ignore the fact that DOGE, run by teenagers with checkered pasts & little experience, are indiscriminately firing federal employees. They ignore the conflicts of interest where Musk, who has $38 billion in gov’t contracts, is dismantling 11 agencies that happen to be investigating his companies. They don’t mention that these unelected, non-vetted individuals are granted access to our most sensitive data.

I keep listening at this point out of a sense of morbid curiosity. The lack of critical thinking around AI and, more recently, Elon’s gutting of the administrative state is concerning - they seem to think what he’s doing is an audit, which is immediately discrediting as an accounting professional. Just bizarre what they’re willing to take at face value.

I was really looking forward to this podcast. Blake Oliver is clearly brainwashed and in love with Elon Musk. David Leary kept trying to be a voice of reason. Loyal Blake kept clapping back with ardent love for his master. It’s repulsive. Now I see how followers of Hitler were eased into obedience, but not just obedience, ardent love and praise of their master.

I have been listening to this podcast for a couple of years but lately, these 2 are so in the bag for the Trump administration. I can’t take it anymore.

Would like the show a lot more if Blake would stop talking over David

Used to love this podcast - I was able to handle Blake’s rants about 150 hours. I was able to handle Blake interrupting David. But lately Blake’s attitude and opinions about everything have been too much. Adding the ChatGPT co host is super annoying. And live reading the ads is very awkward.

I appreciate their accounting industry news updates although it’s mostly pertinent to those working in private accounting industry and small firms. They are out of touch with the national firm initiatives and operations and provide misinformation. For a podcast that spends a lot of time talking about accounting tech, their sound technology is quite poor. I don’t want to hear your breath or swallow.

Blake is especially irritating. He just has bad opinions on anything political.

Listened to the Macy’s episode and was loving it until the hosts started plugging an agency to hire offshore accountants in the Philippines. Accounting has a talent shortage due in large part to stagnant wages and you’re proposing that we drive wages down even further than they already are? This is a podcast for firms, not accountants.

David Blake did an EXCELLENT job on explaining why he believes Donald Trump will win the 2024 presidential election. There is no passion or compassion involved in his analysis but just the facts and the data. And that is exactly what we need we casting our votes. Great job Blake! Keep up the good work.

I’ve been a somewhat long time listener, but what made me write a review was the latest episode on the likely election results. Blake thinks critically and explains things so eloquently and rationally that it’s almost sexy. David leads with his heart, which I appreciate, but Blake’s brain is something to write about. Great job boys! Might move to Arizona, who knows 😜

Recently started a job in the outsourced accounting industry and started listening a couple weeks ago from episode 1. Might take awhile for me to hear you read this on a show, but the foresight in the discussions from day 1, pre-2020, is really cool to look back on. The podcast has aged well, and probably would have been a lot more successful businesses had they been tuning in at the time. Love what you guys are doing, keep it up!
