Great podcast with relevant and workable information
Just started listening (so I’m back in the 2018 episodes). It’s like a fly on the wall to hear how this is done, that is, how do startups — well, startup? Jon and Justin do a great job of explaining even the most minor of challenges to their listeners. For example, should we pay $25 a month for banking? This attention to detail is refreshing because too often startups are envisioned as swimming in cash, with sleep pods and foosball tables, kombucha on tap and coffee bars. To hear the real struggles of a real startup and how they navigate the bootstrap startup world is not only illuminating but inspiring for all of us who dream of entrepreneurship. This is my go-to podcast for the foreseeable future. Thanks Jon and Justin!

    Amazing production and insightful content
This is an awesome podcast about the story behind how to build a successful web app. They cover a lot of different industries and talk to different founders and CEOs. You also get an insider view into things at transistor.fm, very cool.

Excellent behind the scenes on a Saas / podcast world / tech-politics
The behind the scenes information about what the developments in the podcasts world is excellent. I started listening to the 2020 / 2021 episodes. Excellent historical recount as it happens

    Politics. No thanks
Prefer to listen to a politically show if I want politics

    Came to listen about SaaS
Instead I got 30 minutes of socialist economic theory from two guys who don’t understand economics.

    Awesome listen
I love hearing both the business and development side of things!

    This show is so good
I love how approachable it is. I feel like they approach building a company with no pretense or ego at all. It’s just two talented people building something good.

    Love it
Big fan of Justin and John. Their podcast has been super helpful and super interesting hearing about their journey as founders. Keep it going!

    Soooo informative!
I’m not a developer, but I am a customer. I started listening to learn more about how Transistor was developed. Along the way, I feel like I’ve learned sooo much about growing my audience, building a successful podcast, and more. The show is engaging, entertaining, and enlightening. Keep up the great work!

    The journey is the destination
I tune into hear about Justin and Jon's latest adventures in building a great business every week. Love how open they are about everything - the ups, the downs, the challenges, the funny things that happen when building a business. HIGHLY recommend for everyone who's ever thought about (or currently building) an internet business!

A show for budding product people
Thinking about embarking on your own SaaS/product journey? This is the show for you! Learn from years of mistakes, success, and experience in a super transparent and engaging format. Thanks Jon and Justin for sharing with the world.

If you’re in SAAS You Must Listen
Been a big fan of JJ since product people. However, this show kicks butt! Hearing Jon & Justin share work through in real-time building Transistor is super inspirational. These guys are so awesome to share their journey cause what they’re doing isn’t easy. Although I’m probably a little bias as a fellow SAAS Co-founder in the podcast industry. Keep up the great work gents 🍻 Rock of SquadCast.fm

    My new favorite podcast!
I love how candid and real John and Justin are. I’m new to the podcast and have mostly listened to the earlier episodes but I feel like I’ve gained a lot of valuable information and inspiration from it so far. I especially like the episodes that are in a more “free form” format where John and Justin are having an actual real time discussion about something (“How should we price our SaaS” is a perfect example of that). Keep doing what you’re doing guys! If I could make one request it would be to talk a little bit more about the technical aspects of your SaaS. I would love to hear more about what stack you guys use and why you chose it etc.! 5/5

Transparency and insights into key decisions!
Jon and Justing share insights into how they made some of the hard decisions that are necessary while building a SaaS. Thank you for bringing more transparency into the world of building a SaaS.

Every Episode Moves Me Closer to Doing It
Thanks to Jon and Justin and the Transistor.fm/Spots.fm journey, I can see the path ahead of me a bit clearer. Yeah, it's gonna be hard, but I feel like these two buddies are lighting the way and pointing out the quicksand spots before I get there.

    Super mediocre
Super mediocre advice, storytelling, and use of my time as a listener. Save your time and listen to something else like indiehackers

Behind the scenes of a startup
Love this show! Binge listened the entire series in a week. Great hosts and great storytelling. I'm cheering them on with their startup! Can't wait to find out what happens...

    There’s a Good Transparency
The quality of conversation about building Transistor.FM and the openness to discuss pricing along with all the struggles around building it is awesome. I’m working on a SaaS (in a totally different space), but my partner and I have been listening to this podcast and getting great ideas but also good validation that we aren’t the only ones asking questions like yours. Good job guys and keep up the good work!

Leaving this review for a shirt!!
It is May 30, 2018. I am hoping to win this shirt since I only have 2 shirts left for the rest of the summer. If I do not recieve it, I at least now have the knowledge to get my SaaS off the ground. Jon and Justin provide great fun details of getting their SaaS up and running. Thanks for giving me the knowledge to help me get more shirts.

Best look into building a SaaS
I’ve listened to other saas podcasts and I must say, it feels like wire tapping a hot new startup’s phone line to glean all the crucial decisions they make for their startup and get to see how and when they iterate or pivot. To be honest, I was hoping for more contrasting views on topics between Jon and Justin, but it’s good to see that these two see eye to eye on things in their business. I hope to hear more because as they think through their business decisions on the air, it’s nice to see how another company makes their decisions in a way that you wouldn’t see any other way. Give it a listen

One of my favorite podcasts ever!
Jon and Justin do a great job giving real-time insight into the ups and downs of building a SaaS business from the ground up. It's the best of what made the first season of Gimlet's Startup so good, but with more authenticity. As a Justin Jackson "fan", it's hard to top Mega Maker, but I think this does it. It manages to be informative, educational, inspirational AND entertaining all at the same time. I look forward to it every week. Highly recommended.

    The best of both worlds
A coworker recommended this to me and since then I have recommended it to many more. Hearing the decisions being made from both perspectives (developer and product/marketing guy) is really cool from a small start up. Lately it has me pitching ideas constantly to other people!

Great inside look at what it takes to build a software product in 2018
As someone who's currently working on building a software product of my own, I've really enjoyed listening to this podcast. Justin and Jon both provide solid discussion about not only the work they're doing but also decisions they have to take to get their business up and running. Their thoughts and insights have been a motivator for me to get work done myself. If you're currently working on a SaaS or have ever wanted to build one, this podcast is one to listen to.

    Sharing is Caring
So much of the media around startups revolves around the big venture captial backed companies and there's plenty of room in the world for the small guy/partnership to build their own thing. This is a great "diary" of their journey to build their product. I'm getting a lot of inspiration listening this podcast. Thank you Justin and Jon for sharing!
  • Mfcrafts
    Insightful and Detail Oriented
Working for a SaaS Startup, with little prior experience, this podcast has been a wealth of knowledge. Having had the opportunity to work directly with Justin Jackson has been a very enlightening experience.

    Love It! <3
I've listened to Justin's other podcasts, and even purchased some books and courses from him. He does not disappoint with this! Since I don't run my own business yet, I'm listening as much for the entertainment as for the insights. I think this is immensely helpful for people interested in starting they're own business/start up. Proof that it's not all roses, it's a lot of work, and most importantly, no such thing as overnight success. In a society obsessed with instant gratification, social media, and the glorification of start ups, it's refreshing and entertaining.

Fantastic podcast for anyone who is building a SaaS
Finally a podcast by kindred spirits. If you just started building your SaaS then subscribe to hear what Justin and John are planning, what they're debating about, and what pains they're feeling. A lot of podcasts in the space are by people who have "made it" or they're well into their SaaS business. I love hearing from people who are in the same stage as me.

    Great for Entrepreneurs
It is awesome to hear about Justin & Jon’s experience growing their SAAS business while juggling full time jobs and their relationships with those they care about. This is very relatable for people pursuing their passion projects while trying to live a normal person life. I’m very excited to follow their growth. Great podcast!

A ride-along for the tech and podcast-adjacent listener
Justin and Jon are both talented and interesting in their own right. That’s what brought me to Transistor as my new podcast host in the first place. What’s great about their show is printed right on the tin: Build Your SaaS is a window into the building of their new service—something that I, as a Transistor user and fan of start-up stories in general, thoroughly enjoy. Whether you are a podcaster, fan of technology and services, or have a new start-up yourself and you’re looking for tips and ideas, Build Your SaaS is a wonderfully produced addition to your queue.

Full of value for any type of business
Listening to Jon and Justin think through the decisions and thought process that goes into building their business has been so valuable to hear as I build my own side hustles and I'm not even in the software product industry. They give a real account of the struggles and the successes that come with starting a new business and excellent advice on how to do business well. Great guys, great content. Keep it up!

Excited to Follow This First-hand Account of Building a SaaS Business
I've been a long-time follower of Justin's work, so when I heard about this new project I was really looking forward to joining him on the journey. After listening to the first few episodes, I already know that he's going to deliver yet again. Justin and Jon talk candidly about Transistor's origin story, their personal motivations, and their approach to building a sustainable software business. I'm looking forward to learning from their experience and applying that knowledge to my own business ventures. Whether you're a current/aspiring SaaS founder or just a person who likes to get a peak behind the curtain, "Build Your SaaS" is the perfect addition to your podcast library.

    Another Great Podcast from Justin
Another great podcast from Justin with a great topic. With the way the landscape has changed, building a sustainable business requires that much more work. But it'll be fascinating to see Justin and Jon tell that story as it happens.

    Awesome... can’t wait for more
Excited to hear the nitty gritty details of these two building their new startup!

    What did you expect?
I'm a long time follow of Justin, in all his different projects. The man knows his stuff, and knows how to explain it in clear and concise ways, with enthusiasm. I knew to Jon, but he's proving a great co-founder *ahem* along side Justin. Well done, gentlemen!
