It only took one ep to get me hooked on this pod. I really enjoyed listening to their discussion on A League of Their Own. I knew a lot about the history going into it, but these guys still taught me some things. Solid chemistry and energy too. Looking forward to going through their archive.

I absolutely love this podcast. Honestly, it’s like they’re inside my head when picking topics. I rented Dragonheart every week growing up, I constantly have movie scores playing while I work, I know the words to every song in dozens of musicals, and I’ve watched through The Last Airbender a half dozen times. I only discovered the podcast a week ago and I’ve been flying through them ever since. Keep making more great content. I will be listening intently each week.

When writing a review, I always try to be as original as I can be. I know that it has been said that the hosts have great chemistry but I am compelled to say it again. There are so many things to love about this podcast but the ease of the conversation between hosts is a huge reason to stick around. They tend to pull you in and you find yourself about to join them. One of my favorite episodes was on dance films of the 80s. Flashdance has always been my favorite dance flick and I was actually floored that they had at least 3 facts that I hadn’t heard yet about that movie. A lot of time and research goes into each episode and it shows. I can not recommend enough. Go listen!

Black Case Diaries has such a unique approach that leverages the knowledge and chemistry of its hosts. I especially love the companion playlists and blog posts they publish to enrich the material; you leave each episode feeling like a bit more of an expert on film history. If the title didn't give it away, I really enjoyed the Godzilla / Gojira episode. They really dug into a lot of what I think matters to the Toho films and their present incarnations. And that's what really shines in The Black Case Diaries: the hosts know what they're talking about and have a great time digging through the "archives" to give a movie or TV show its due. That takes effort and time, but it also requires a good set of hosts who can bounce off one another in fluid fashion. That's the case here. Movie podcast fans will get a lot out of The Black Case Diaries, so you should definitely give it a listen. There's a good starting point for everyone. Just find your favorite thing and jump in!
