Aquademia: The Responsible Seafood Podcast

Hosted by Global Seafood Alliance’s Justin Grant and Maddie Cassidy, Aquademia is your go-to podcast for a fresh take on all things seafood. The podcast aims to educate consumers and industry professionals on how seafood is connected with the issues facing our planet, what consumers can do to help, and arm them with the knowledge to make better seafood choices! Each episode will feature interviews from professionals of many disciplines to demonstrate how deeply seafood is connected with our world. From seafood industry professionals to environmental scientists to chefs, all voices will be included.

Love the diverse topics and guests from a variety of backgrounds. I think the hosts facilitate meaningful discussions at the intersection of science, business and sustainability practices. I’m still at the start of my career and looking into grad school and the episodes with guests sharing their career stories have been amazing and inspiring to listen to. Keep it up!

Inspiring

This is a great podcast about a serious subject. The team presents news about aquaculture in an entertaining and knowledgeable way. The sound is professional and top-notch. In the spirit of full disclosure, I used to work with Shaun at the New England Aquarium when we were both educators there. I already knew of his passion for marine science and his skill at educating. This podcast is an excellent utilization of his talents and his partners are just as good!

Very informative

I love this podcast, it’s very informative and fun to boot! I love learning about the different facets of the seafood industry and how consumers influence it in such drastic ways. Plus, the hosts are hilarious! I’m looking forward to learning more about specific species of fish and how they are cultivated and marketed to consumers!

Old dog, new tricks

So glad I found this podcast. I did not grow up eating any seafood but I have been tasked by my doctor to eat it for my heart health. I have found your episodes to be informative for a seafood novice and I appreciate the lighthearted nature of the discussions. Thanks for helping me understand why I should try more seafood. I’ll be testing out the tilapia fish tacos next!

Making it understandable

I like to mix listening to music with listening to podcasts. I love music but I learn and am entertained by podcasts. Aquaculture is another name for fish farming. And fish farming has been going on for centuries but only really took off in the last 50 years. Two facts that are not exactly well known but should be. The Aquademia podcasts are fun, educational and really help listeners better understand why the planet needs Responsible Aquaculture. Thanks for making them.

Worth a Listen!

The listener friendly podcasts in this series offer more than sound bites related to aquaculture. The smart, funny and engaging presenters provide definitions, explain why aquaculture matters and in some cases, offer real examples of things we can all do to make a positive impact on our environment (my plastic usage has decreased dramatically!) We share responsibility to consider the future of our food sources and the significant role aquaculture plays. This series makes that feel more accessible to each of us. Definitely worth the download and listen!

Aquaculture is usually a very sensitive subject that many people are unsure of and skeptical of.
