Fantastic podcast on throwing off the hurry culture and instead follow Jesus’ way.

    Fantastic
Thanks for the awesome reminders. Very simple, practical, insightful, and helpful. I can’t wait to dive into John Mark’s book.

    Eliminate Hurry?
It’s hard to take this podcast seriously when the host is speaking so quickly he sounds like he just drank a six pack of energy drinks.

    My FAVORITE podcast
I’ve now listened to this whole series five times and I learn something new and feel closer to God and the culture he wants us to thrive in every time!

    Fast talker
This podcast is all about eliminating hurry but the host speaks so quickly

    Close to a 5-star.
Pretty close to giving this a 5-star rating. Content is good. Have a little issue with Jefferson talking at what sounds like 1.5 speed. Thought this was about slowing down a little 😉 He also sometimes talks over the top of John Mark. He asks a question - John Mark answers - and then he has an idea and jumps in. That bugs me on podcasts, radio, real life discussions….

    Revisiting
The hurry and hustle has snuck back into my life recently. I’ve returned to this series because it has been so helpful in the past.

    Great content
Great content. It seems like the audio is sped up and it is difficult to understand. Maybe they just talk fast. It would be much easier if, when talking about hurry and hustle, they could slow it down a bit.

    Lifegiving and transformed my life
The teachings and practices throughout this show and their books has literally changed my life. More presence, more peace, more in tune with God and deconditioning from hustle culture and technology addictions.

Love it all, but what about your wives?
It’s all SO good and I’ve shared many episodes with countless friends!! One thing- I would love to hear from your wives. How does this principle look for them? I ask that because their schedules and demands must look different from yours, I.e. kids, errands, etc., so I’d really love to hear how they apply each of these principles.

    10/10
Love this podcast so much. Immediately bought their books. Changed my perspective on my schedule and time management. Only wished they had integrated a bit more scripture.

This podcast series is so worth your time and attention!
I highly recommend listening to every episode. Excellent teaching and encouragement

Another podcast voice for the shalom life
Love their insights but hilarious when Jeff talks about slowing down in his very speedy, even exhausting, pace of speech. Also, they could mention idolatry specifically in their critique of hustle culture. Still, I so resonate with this and appreciate the reinforcement as I have been experiencing Christ’s Shalom in my own exploration of slowing down intentionally.

    Amazing!!
This was such an amazing podcast!! I will listen again, because it had so much great content. Purchased their books for myself for Christmas. Can’t wait to unpack those!! Thank you both!

    Over?! 😆
I just found you and it’s over 🤦🏼‍♀️ I can’t wait to go back and listen to everything!

    Talking is way too fast.
Jeff, please slow down if you’re reading this. It’s really hard to follow.
  • Jeremy Masys
    Very useful and wise
Fantastic podcast, specifically loved the obscurity and simplicity episodes which I don’t think get talked about enough (at all?) in Christian thought. That said, as others have pointed out it’s a little jarring that one of the hosts talks in a very fast caffeinated manner which is in tension with the theme.

    Wise Advice for Modern Living
Two guys talk as fast as possible and constantly interrupt each other as they discuss ways to slow down and become more contemplative. That aside, excellent content!

    Love this podcast!!!
Wish they would make more! I can see myself listening to each of these episodes multiple times. I recommend this podcast and their books to so many clients and friends. Check it out, you won’t regret it!

    So excited!
I just found this podcast and I’m thrilled to get to hear John Mark Commer (and get to know Mr Bethke). I’m in! I’m looking forward to being encouraged in my walk with Jesus, challenged to die to self and engaged with others as I share the podcast with friends.
  • Mt.6:24
    Love the concept!
More people & podcasts are talking these days about the things Jesus taught (in the 4 gospels), but there are a few of his teachings that almost never get serious coverage. Several references (EXCLUDING the “rich young ruler”) are made in Luke about selling all of one’s possessions & giving to the poor and then this teaching is shown to be taken seriously by the time we get to the book of Acts (end of chapters 2 & 4). Another powerful & often neglected paradigm-changing (IF taken at face value) teaching of Jesus is found in Mt. 6:24; Lk. 16:13-14). This has been called the “Two Masters teaching”, one being God/Love and the other/opposite one being money. What would Christianity look like, both inside its confines and to the world at large, if these teachings were given much more serious consideration and application? Take a leap of faith and dive deep into these teachings! ✌🏼

    Saying no
Excellent podcast. My takeaway: to say “yes” to create space for rich relationships (with God & those close to me...spouse, kids, grandkids), and more “no’s” for shallow relationships (that leave me empty...social media), and pace myself in His presence - to actually walk with my King and Lover of my soul, with the One who said (and says), “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Heb. 13:5).

    Great Conversations
Much needed topic for Christians seeking to be truly healthy. But wow Jeff talks way too fast...
  • AnnieFocusd
    Awesome! Please do more!
Maybe that’s the point. To do less well and let it live on and I can just delisted when I need to. But if not...would love to hear more!

Extremely Pertinent in our Hustle Culture
I’ve benefited from trying these disciplines out and am constantly challenged to go further with them to walk in deeper communion with Jesus. Thank you for sharing your insights through this podcast!

    Season Two Me Please!
This podcast has been the answer to many prayers! Thank you guys so much! Please keep talking about these things!

    Love love love
Absolutely enjoy this podcast. Definitely considering all things I can slow down and fully enjoy in my own personal life. And every episode is so down to earth. I love that there’s wiggle room to take your time and cut out what’s unnecessary without legalistic, rigid rules. For me personally with the minimal lifestyle there are rules that for me (because I don’t yet have the discipline) very all or nothing and where there is some wiggle room it’s still very constricted. I love this podcast cause it’s Christ centered so I feel spiritually connected and it helps me make more concrete decisions on what I can do without and take use my time to create a more peaceful life. Thank you for all the work put into this podcast!

    Talks too fast
Great podcast but my gosh Jeff talks SO fast. Ironic considering the topic. Still a great podcast
  • Kristyque
    Rest is key
For someone who suffered from “low grade anxiety” for years, this podcast truly allowed me to open my eyes to the air I was breathing but didn’t know it. Implementing the rhythms of rest have allowed me to better worship the Lord and love the people around me. Thank you!
  • Naijafit
    Great content, too fast
I love the content here! It’s just really hard to listen to because one person talks so fast. I wish Apple had a 3/4 speed setting. That would be just right. Keep it coming, slow it down a tad.
  • Jtrujillo45
    Love!
    Shared with friends! So timely.

Jeff, you did great! -a fellow type 8
Loved the whole series. It’s definitely a message that our generation desperately needs to hear as it’s been written off as legalism in the generations before us. Thank you both for sharing and for your time in writing your books, sharing your experience and SO much practicality! Also, I think you both did a great job. I could clearly understand both of you and I understand that some people just have more words or just have to get their thoughts out before they forget! Thank you both!

A message we desperately need to hear
I discovered this podcast 6 months into the pandemic and I needed it so much. How do you endure life when everything suddenly shuts down? Slow your soul, enjoy the moment, don’t panic, trust Jesus, love God and people, just be. I wish they were still doing these.
  • Pjwer
    Great— but hurried.
I thought this was about slowing down? Great message, but the host talks so fast he can hardly keep up with himself. He’s such in a hurry he talks over John comer multiple times. Slow the heck down dude! Come on, take your own advice!
  • _thealliegator_
    Such a powerful podcast!
Last month My soon to be husband and I went to premarital counseling in which our paster suggested that many of our issues are because we need to SLOW DOWN. After thought and prayer God really set it on our hearts that we needed to seek teachings on this topic both individually and as a couple. This podcast was exactly the teaching we were looking for. It explains how our culture has contributed to our hurry, what God says about it and practical ways to get ourselves on the right track. We are so thankful for this podcast and look forward to sharing it with others!

Please stop talking like you’re in a hurry :)
I’d like to preface this by saying that I do not write reviews about podcasts. However, I had to write one about this series, because the content is fantastic and it has so much potential. PLEASE SLOW DOWN. Jeff talks so fast and it is irritating when he talks over John. Both guys have great things to say, but I am just really hoping that they read this, because I’m not the only one who has mentioned it in the reviews.
  • darcy5398
This guy talks pretty fast for a podcast about fighting hurry
There’s good stuff here. Lots of wisdom and plenty to reflect on and think about. But fellas, can we cut some of the pretentiousness out? You aren’t better than people who use the word “goals” over “formations”. Let’s learn together without shaming people with content like “Oh we don’t even use the word ‘goals’ in my house- it’s like a swear word!” Guys, come on. It can be better than this!
  • GJW22
    Read the books instead!
I am all about the content and collaboration between these two great minds, but Bethke talks too fast and it made me to anxious to keep listening. I bought Comer’s book instead, and reading it definitely helped me slow down!

Helpful Toward “The Unforced Rhythms of Grace”
Thank you so much for this super insightful and inspiring podcast to downshift our hurried and harried souls. I’ve loved every one of them and have recommended to my friends. O Lord help us...more of Your grace rich life in us!

The irony of a hurried podcast host
When I listen to this I keep thinking, When’s he going to pause and come up for air? But he doesn’t. It’s ironic that a podcast about slowing down...doesn’t.
  • rach_70
Jeff’s fast talking is the only thing I did not enjoy
I totally agree that this podcast has amazing topics and great content, but there really needs to be some reflection on how hurried Jeff’s talking is and how much he talks over (and at the same time) as John Mark. It literally gives me anxiety when I hear them both talking at the same time. I hope he reads these. Maybe they can separate times for each to have space to talk so there’s no more interrupting.

    SUCH an important topic
I love this podcast... my only complaint (if you can call it that) was that there are only 10 episodes and I would’ve loved to listen to more! This definitely came at a good time for me in my life as I work to fight hurry in my life and be more present with those around me. Thankful to have found this podcast!
  • hstrozyk
    Such a timely gift
My friend sent me this podcast series and I had seen it promoted on my social media. Truly transformational. I have enjoyed listening and it has provoked me to truly consider how I’m walking and if it’s in rest and not in a rushed life of anxiety. It has created room for me to commune with God and ask him questions about how to walk with Him. Highly recommend. Also, has anyone noticed that the intro/outro song sounds just like “Somebody Else” by the 1975? Just me? Okay haha

    Excellent Podcast!!!
I listened to the first episode of this podcast months ago then stopped because my schedule was to full! Once COVID-19 quarantine hit, I came back to this and began analyzing my life. I am so thankful for this podcast during my time at home! Even though I am a teenager and we tend to think busyness equals satisfaction or happiness — perhaps more than anyone — I have seen through what I have been practicing in quarantine that a slower lifestyle is what my soul has longed for, I just haven’t been quiet enough to listen. Thank you John Mark and Jeff for being such an encouragement to me!

    Game changing perspective
I started listening to this podcast during COVID-19 quarantine. This podcast has really pivoted my perspective as hustle is all I’ve really ever known. I thought hustle was the only option to be successful. I loved hearing the point about walking WITH Jesus, not in front of him. God knows the plan for our lives and if we trust, we get to walk with him and enjoy our journey, instead of rushing around stressed out all the time. Please release a second season!

    Amazing!
This podcast helped me in such major ways. I’ve changed so many habits because of their tips that have truly helped me slow down and enjoy the presence of God. Thank you!!
