LilpangThank you!Thank you Father for the content in your podcast. I’m in WV and have felt orphaned and confused about the approach to the current pandemic. My son, 22 and autistic, was prohibited from church attendance over his inability to mask. I have had a certain visceral response about wearing a mask myself in Church while in worship. As a result our family didn’t attend for over a year. We found your website and podcast when our old priest forwarded us the Open Letter from the Burning Bush Brotherhood. Our spirits have been fortified by your work and we look forward to more. God Bless!

RebeccaMichaelA reflection on November 1st EpisodeReverend Father, Thank you for your episode dedicated to political guidance. I appreciated the words of Holy St. Paisios and the reminder to Orthodox Christians to remain civically active and vigilant. I am concerned about a couple of points you make, first, concerning simplistic use of the term ‘socialism,’ second, concerning your neglect of one of the most pressing issues of our time - the environment and the world climate crisis. First, I’ll address your use of the term, ‘socialism.’ While I agree with many of your principals that reprove socialism and Marxism, it is important to recognize that there is no strict dichotomy between a capitalist democracy and socialism. The latter remains a theory, and the former has brought no less devastation to people’s, their cultures, their values as the other. This history is hidden in plain sight: it manifests as extreme poverty, labor abuses, and land grabbing, where native peoples all of the Americas, as well as other people of “developing” countries suffer the most for the sake of US and European corporate interests. I recognize and appreciate your focused concern on the devastating impact of socialism on Orthodox Christians in Russia. As you recount this history for the sake of denouncing socialist leanings in the United States, you forget the devastation of Nationalism on the Armenian Orthodox and the Pontic Greeks, which was at the hands of the Young Turks, at the end of the Ottoman Empire. I understand both histories important to compare to current US politics, and I do not recognize Nationalism on one side of the aisle as less dangerous as this Socialism you call out on the other. Second, Father, I am sorry that you neglected the issue of the environment and our climate crisis. By neglecting this issue, you fail our youth and future generations. Maybe your podcast intends only to speak to adults, but what a shame! We are losing our youth because we are failing to understand what presses their heart. The climate crisis inspires a movement of our youth, and further, we are called upon by our Holy Ecumenical Patriarch to address the devastation of climate change. You rightfully discuss the sin of infant genocide, Father, but why should we tolerate destruction of all the earth? Father, how do you account for these problems in your podcast? I welcome you to respond to this message.
