ClarksforkriverMake Yourself Comfortable, Stay AwhileEdge of the Couch is a rare gem in the world of therapy podcasts—thoughtful, unfiltered, and deeply human. What sets it apart is the way the hosts dive into the real, raw experiences of being a therapist, especially in those early, vulnerable years of practice. They don’t shy away from the complexities and messiness of the therapeutic relationship, and their conversations feel like you’re sitting in on a coffee shop chat between honest friends who get it. It’s not just informative; it’s affirming. Whether you’re a new therapist or a seasoned one needing a reminder that you’re not alone, this podcast is a must-listen. Only thing I would love to see is more inclusion of resources such as books, articles, and studies that delve even deeper into the topics.

Seanolds1This got me through grad school!Love love love this pod! I started listening my first semester in grad school for mental health counseling and now I’m about to graduate. This podcast really helped to ground my learning in a more realized way, and got to address some of the stuff I had wondering about but never really had the space for in classes. I love the perspectives shared and the care and consideration for each and every conversation! I joined you on the edge of the couch!

Nickole123Behind the scenes.Love the CONTENT. Just stumbled upon this podcast, binged a few episodes, and I love it. I’m not a therapist, but a client. Even still, I find the podcast to be very insightful. It gives me a window into therapy world and creates a better understanding of the therapeutic relationship I have with my own therapist. Thank you for being open and self-disclosing Jordan and Alison!

ellen4324Finally!!!I have been sifting through so many podcasts on counseling and psychology to educate myself in counseling. As a first-year intern at a counseling center and social work grad student, I’ve been feeling the tough learning curve of counseling. I haven’t had any training in counseling so it’s been really scary and intimidating trying to figure it out on my own through practicing with other interns and videoing. This podcast breaks down what I know has been missing in my sessions and ways I can improve on how I ask questions, what to do when I don’t know what to say…and that’s as far as I’ve gotten, already wanting to review because just those two podcasts were what I needed!!

Ohio BetsyEvery counselor in training NEEDS this pod!I cannot say enough good things about this podcast! As a student therapist, I’m in my second internship, having completed school counseling and now delving into clinical counseling at a community counseling center. There’s a big difference between school and private counseling and this podcast helps me transition the skills I learned in the school environment into the long-term therapy setting, which is a challenge for me. These ladies give the BEST advice and strategies and I literally take notes on my phone while I’m listening. I feel like I struck gold finding this podcast and I’m so thankful it exists. Keep up the great work! Counseling students need you!

NellkristenOne of my favorite podcastsI am a first year counseling grad student, and this podcast has been so helpful as I’ve begun classes and practicum. It’s helped me figure out what is important to me as a counselor and what type of counselor I want to be. I look forward to new episodes every week and listen as soon as they drop!

hkfieldAmazing - so grateful for this show! This is one of my favorite podcasts ever!! Alison and Jordan are so smart and thoughtful. I’m just finishing my MSW program and I couldn’t be more grateful to have found Edge of the Couch. Their commitment to anti-oppression, true client care and centering the relationship has been an incredible gift as I try to figure out who I am as a social worker. THANK YOU!!! Can’t wait for season 2 💕
