Conversations From The Frontlines: Real Talk, Real Change

19
Non-Profit #134

Justice takes many forms, and Liberty Hill’s work is rooted in the belief that justice requires enabling those closest to the problems to speak on them and to help formulate, and implement, the solutions. So, how are activists seeking to make our society more just? And how are those in power responding? This season will feature three sets of paired episodes, six total, each pair featuring an Grass-Roots Leader (an activist/community member) and an Insider (an elected or appointed official or other more establishment figure) who are each working on this issue.

    Conversations on the Frontline 🔥
As a lifelong learner, I enjoy how this podcast reaches everyday people looking to learn more about social justice issues, specifically, as they pertain to Los Angeles. The podcast host (Shane, Liberty Hill’s CEO) does a great job of asking questions that are intriguing and direct. The guests consistently bring up thought provoking ideas (I constantly find myself googling different terms and organizations that I have not heard of prior), which I value immensely. Additionally, the guests usually share ways everyday people can get involved in the work, with practical and realistic idea. I highly recommend listening to this podcast as it is full of learning, joy, and actionable next steps.

    Best podcast ever
As a long-time social justice advocate and podcast listener, this is the best! Full of deep wisdom, laughter, heart, soul, healing, community and inspiration -- which is EXACTLY the medicine we all need to fuel our struggle and movement for progressive change. Si se suede! My heart is full of love and gratitude for the Liberty Hill family! <3

    A voice for grassroots change
If you consider the term "social justice warrior" a badge of honor (and really, why wouldn't you?), then you will love this new podcast from the Liberty Hill Foundation. As the largest funder of social-change groups in Los Angeles County, LHF has been an ally to countless leaders and activists (including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass), and continues to support and mentor new ones. Host Shane Goldsmith, CEO, has longvbeen a leader in areas from homelessness to youth justice to police accountability, and here she interviews leading thinkers and activists in those areas and many more. Really, if all you do is listen to the episode with Lorri Jean, CEO of the LA LGBT Center, your life will be better for it—but there are so many more voices in this podcast that are worth your time.
